Movie Ratings and Reviews

Since we don't always know what a movie contains before we see it (the MPAA ratings are quite useless today), I figured I'd provide a little guidance for those who have read and agree with my post earlier today. I use the following websites to check for the content of the movies I plan on seeing:

Their recommendations may not always be the best, but they are usually pretty accurate at talking about the content (Sex/Nudity, Profanity, Violence, Drugs, etc.) of any given movie. IMDB and CommonSense even let you put your own information in and rate the movies.

I also like the site Kids In Mind (http://www.kids-in-mind.com). They get very detailed about every questionable aspect of a film.

It gets very disappointing when you rent a movie and end up stopping it half way through because it wasn't what you thought it was. Going to the movies, on the other hand, I do my research well far in advance so that I don't waste my $20 and have to walk out with my wife. I like your idea behind this post, as people may want to research a movie not only so that they won't waste their money and time, but also so that they won't watch something crude.

Hey Lee.... I haven't come over here in a little while and just saw this post. The same thing had been on my mind last month. I like kids-in-mind.com too. I wrote a post about movie ratings last week. Although I'm a bit more liberal than most Mormon's on my movie watching, I think it's really important to do more research instead of just relying on the ratings.
